Adventure Continues

Blue-headed Vireo, Oxley Nature Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma 9/18/2020

Introduction

Hello, my name is Jimmy.

If you are anything like me..you LOVE nature. You love everything about it. You breathe it. And you spend lots of time in it.

I have spent my life learning more and more about the outside world around me. From an early age I would go out and search my yard for anything that moved or crawled along the ground.

Today at 41 years old I still do those things.

I love it and obtain balance from it. I find myself doing this naturally for a good time. Naturally, I assume you are much like this. There is something inside you that yearns for nature..you need it and seek it out.

I get it. Trust me!

Education

I’ll tell you a little about me. I’m a wildlife biologist and recently successfully defended my Master’s thesis in Zoology. I’ve spent the past several years experiencing things in graduate school that to this day boggle my mind.

I have spent time on bat projects capturing bats in various locations. I’ve learned how to capture and identify small mammals and I’ve learned so much about just the science of biology.

I don’t want that to end.

What’s Next?

That is the purpose of this blog. Because I want those adventures to continue now that I am out of graduate school.

Most importantly I want to share my adventures with all of you.

This blog will feature my adventures in nature. It will include anything you can think about..birds, reptiles, insects..all of it. It will be heavy on the birding side. I love birding!

Since I first got into birding at about 12 years old when I was given my first bird identification field guide I have been obsessed with birds.

I was amazed at all the birds in the book I could actually go outside my house and see those SAME birds in my own yard. I became obsessed.

I’ll try to mix it up a little.

I’ll write some stuff sometime. And I may even throw in a video or two here and there. Just enjoy it and please feel free to contact me with suggestions on any content you would like to see or would like me to talk about.

Have fun and happy trails,

Jimmy
